It is common to use the same combatant on several maps. However, it can be tedious to add the same combatant with the same color, name, token, size, aura, and aura color every time. To solve this, RPG Battlemap supports the use of characters.
Characters: A Definition
A character is a template for a combatant. It has a subset of the options for a combatant.
When a combatant is added to the map, it has no link back to the character that may have been used to create it. You can adjust the size, color, or any other property, and the changes to one will not be reflected on the other.
Creating a Character
From the dashboard, the characters list is the 3rd column. The first row of that column is an input field. Type the name of your new character and click the button to the right. The character will show up in the list below.
You are not allowed to have 2 characters with the exact same name, nor characters with empty names.
Once you've successfully made your character, you can move to editing it.
Editing a Character
To begin editing a character, click on its name in the 3rd column. Here you will see a preview of what a combatant made from the character will look like, and the settings for the character.
The name must be unique to your characters.
The token uses dropbox, but any url will work.
The campaign is used to help organize and search for characters.
The color is the default color used for the combatant.
The size is how many sells wide and tall the combatant will be.
The aura color is the tint that will be applied to anything in the combatant's aura other than itself.
The aura size is a radius of cells extending from the combatant.
Tags are used to search for and organize characters.
Once you are happy with your changes, be sure to click the save button!
Deleting a character
On the dashboard, there is a delete button next to each character. Deleting cannot be undone!
