While making a map look nice is all well and good, the core reason to use a virtual table top is to emulate moving miniatures around, without the worry of your cat stealing it. I've had way to many BBEG's defeated that way.

Changes to combatants are saved and sent to participants as you make them. So if you increment the size of a combatant using the up arrows in the size control, the other participants will see the combatant incrementally grow in size.

Combatants: a definition

A combatant is, a at it's core, a sized token with a position on the map. The token is always square, with the size referring to the length of a side. The minimum size is 1, and the maximum is 10.

A combatant always has a color. The color is used as fill for visible combatats, or as a ring for invisible combatants you can see.

A combatant can optionally have an image. The image is bordered by the combatant's color, and hidden when the combatant is invisible. Use of dropbox as and image source is supported.

A combatant also has an aura. An aura will move with a combatant and be drawn over every other combatant. The aura's color is independent of the combatant's color. The minimum and default size of an aura is 0 (indicating no aura), with a maximum of 10. The maximum size is 10, indicating the aura extends 10 squares out from the combatant on all sizes.

A combatant can also be set to be invisible. An invisible combatant is only seen by the combatant's owner and the map's owner.

Adding Combatants

In the toolbar, just to the left of the the combatant select tool, is the toolbox. Click on the toolbox to access the advanced tools. Click the combatant add tool tool to start a combatant from scratch, or open its dropdown menu to add a combatant from a character you made.

Moving Combatants

In nearly any mode, you can simple click or tap and drag any combatant you can see around. The movements are sent to the server and other participants as you change the square the combatant is in.

Editing Combatants

Open the toolbox and either click on a combatant on the map, or select a combatant from the combatant select tool. This form is has all the options as when adding a combatant, in addition to deleting and unselecting the combatant.

Visibility

A player and owner can hide combatants from other players in a few ways.

Invisibility

When a combatant is set to 'invisible', they are hidden from all other players with 2 exceptions: the map owner, and the player that created the combatant (the combatant owner). Thosse two see the combatant drawn as an empty circle in its color.

Regions

If a combatant is assigned to a region, and that region is set to 'hidden', only the map owner can see the combatant. Even then, the combatant is only truly visible if the owner sets the region in preview mode.
